Before you start

  • The WhatsApp account is connected and test contacts can be found for verification.
  • It has been clarified whether the team wants to maintain customer notes in the mobile address book or the computer.

Where to find it
Client → Settings → General settings → Mobile phone address book synchronization PC notes; Customer session sidebar → customer profile → Edit entry next to the name.

First decide which end will maintain the notes #

Both mobile phones and computers may save customer names. If the same contact is modified by different people on both ends, the name may change, looking like "changed and then changed back." Before starting, confirm how the team will be maintained to avoid everyone changing names according to different rules.

Document description: Turning off "Mobile address book synchronization PC notes" will help retain notes maintained on the computer; after turning it on, both the phone and the computer can modify it, showing the latest modification. It describes the rules for displaying notes and does not infer that entire customer profiles, tags, stages, or other data are also synchronized.

Modify notes on the computer #

  1. Open a conversation with the target test contact and confirm that you are using the correct WhatsApp account.
  2. In the "customer profile" on the right, find the editing entry near the name.
  3. Fill in the test notes that are easy for the team to identify and do not contain sensitive information, and save according to the current interface.
  4. Check the conversation list and chat page display to confirm that the modifications correspond to the same contact.

The computer editing portal and the mobile phone address book are two different locations. If the team wants to use the name of the computer maintenance as the basis, they should first check the synchronization switch and then deal with the duplicate coverage issue.

Adjust sync switch and verify #

  1. Go to "Settings → General Settings".
  2. Find "Mobile Address Book Synchronization PC Notes" and turn it on or off according to the maintenance method determined by the team.
  3. First use a test contact to verify: record the original names of both ends, and then modify only one end.
  4. Go back to your computer and see if the name has changed as expected before deciding whether to do the same for official customers.
  5. If there is an unexpected name change, check to see if the phone's address book has also been modified and don't directly attribute it to data loss.

Distinguish between note changes and data loss #

The note is used to identify the contact; its change does not directly mean the disappearance of the customer number, session or profile data. When troubleshooting, you should first confirm that the current account and the customer are the same object, and then check the synchronization direction. The information does not specify the synchronization frequency, the order of coverage after offline, or the recovery method of historical versions, so you should not promise immediate synchronization or one-click undo; if multiple people share contacts, repeat modifications should be suspended first and checked by the person in charge.

Check your result

  • The team has clearly noted the main maintenance end.
  • The synchronization switch is consistent with the maintenance method.
  • The test contact name changes are as expected, and other customers are not changed by mistake.

Frequently asked questions

I changed my name on the computer, why did it change again later?

If synchronization is turned on, subsequent modifications on the mobile phone may become the latest update. First check the modification records or operators of the mobile address book and the computer before deciding whether to turn off synchronization.

Will turning off synchronization delete the contacts on my phone?

The document only describes PC note display and synchronization selection, and does not explain that mobile phone contacts will be deleted. Don't use the switch as an action to clear your address book.

How long does it take for synchronization to take effect?

The information does not give a fixed time. Check the account connection first and then observe with a single test contact. Do not treat a certain waiting number of seconds as a product promise.
